What’s Up Buff State Writers?

Hello Member!

I graduated from North Tonawanda High School where my poems were published in the school’s magazine. I then went to Niagara County Community College and transferred to Buff State where I became involved in the Rooftop Poetry Club (RPC). The love for poetry I discovered in high school caught up with me there. Everytime they had an event or writing workshop I wanted to be there. In 2008 I was accepted into a United Nations Educational Science Cultural Organization Program in Poland to teach English to teenagers. When I graduated I continued to participate in RPC. Also, I volunteered at Literacy Volunteers of America as an ESL Tutor. Then I moved to Hawaii for four years where I tutored and completed a DONA International Approved Birth Doula Workshop.  In addition to writing, I also enjoy taking pictures and making them into cards. I decided to come back to continue writing with the intention to publish my work and make greeting cards. In September 2014, I started to volunteer at the Western New York Book Art Center. I also wanted to get involved in the writing community. My friend, Jessica Rath encouraged me to start a writing group so began the Buffalo State Alumni Writing Group. I can be contacted about the writing group at BSCAlumniwritinggroup@gmail.com or interest in my esl/writing tutor services or cards at TutorTimeHI@gmail.com

Hello Published!

Matt Gryta graduated in 1969. While he worked at the Buffalo News as a crime reporter, a lead in his career sparked more than an article. Read all about it in, The Real Teflon Don: How an Elite Team of New York State Troopers Helped Take Down America’s Most Powerful Mafia Family and Joey 22. In the future he plans to publish more books related to crime.
